Our customers have spoken, and we have listened! Having modern point-of-sale (POS) technology is a top concern of convenience store and retail operators. And having instant access to a new POS system that is easy to set up and use is essential to their success. That’s why Petrosoft’s SmartPOS , the point-of-sale system designed for convenience – is now offers offline mode.

What’s this mean for users?

Previously, activation of SmartPOS required an online connection and activation through the Retail360  mobile app. While Retail360 provides access to update your price book, conduct inventory counts, and activate tobacco manufacturer promotions, the set-up takes about 30 minutes (and not everyone requires the additional features).

Now, in addition to activation via Retail360, users can activate and use their SmartPOS in an offline mode. Offline mode allows use your SmartPOS right on the terminal without any extra steps for easier, faster set-up.

This plug-and-play option provides basic POS functionalities without Internet connection, including:

  • ID-scanning and birthdate entry for age-restricted sales
  • Integration with over 50 card processors
  • Unlimited promotional storage
  • Price book building

How does it work?

To use offline mode, simply connect your SmartPOS to your hardware, power on, and follow the instructions on screen. If you get stuck or need help connecting your hardware, Petrosoft offers an easy-to-follow Quick Start Guide, as well as in-house support.

In addition to the new offline mode, SmartPOS’s existing functionalities remain the same. For example, if you have a CStoreOffice subscription, you can automatically import your price book directly onto the new POS terminal. As soon as you start selling, CStoreOffice will take your sales data from the SmartPOS, combine it with inventory data, and give you an up-to-date inventory count of all items in the price book. SmartPOS combined with CStoreOffice is also Scan Data ready, so tobacco retailers can easily take advantage of manufacturer promotions.
